Match-day checklist
Get a smooth picture for the big game
Sport is the toughest test for any stream: fast motion, huge audiences and no second chance. Fifteen minutes before kick-off, run through this list.
- Wired connection if at all possible, or 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router.
- Pause downloads on consoles, laptops and phones in the house.
- Restart the app (not just the channel) before the match.
- Find a backup feed: note an HD alternative of the same channel in case one stutters.
- Turn on frame-rate matching on Apple TV or Android boxes for smoother motion.
Speed for live sport (per screen)
| Quality | Comfortable speed |
|---|---|
| HD | 15 Mbps |
| Full HD | 25 Mbps |
| 4K | 40 Mbps + |
Sport needs a little more headroom than regular channels, because motion is constant.
Check before a big event
Sports rights change every season and differ from country to country. Before an important match, final or fight, send us the event name and date. We’ll confirm where it’s showing in the app, so you’re not searching at kick-off.
Ask about an eventSports questions
Is live sport included in every plan?
Yes. Sports channels are part of every plan, from 1 month to 12 months.
Why does sport buffer when other channels don’t?
Live sport uses more data because of constant motion, and big events bring heavier home network use. A cable connection and the match-day checklist above fix most cases.
Is there a delay compared with TV?
Internet streams usually run a little behind traditional broadcasts, often by some seconds. Raising the buffer adds a little more delay but improves smoothness.
Can I watch sport on my phone?
Yes, with the player app on Android or iPhone. Use Wi-Fi for long matches to save mobile data.
Following a season?
The 6-month plan covers most seasons for €44. Ask us to check your competitions first.
